Pain Management

Interventional pain management is the non-surgical counterpart to neurosurgery. Using similar principles for diagnosis of pain as in neurology, orthopedics and neurosurgery, ACCESS pain physicians perform a wide variety of procedures in the operating room under x-Ray guidance to improve chronic pain and return patients to an active lifestyle.

Our physicians will often place steroids near inflamed spinal nerves or into joints to treat pain. In some cases, interrupting pain pathways to injured structures using radio frequency lesioning techniques is used.

In other cases, turning off pain transmission with implanted spinal cord or nerve stimulators is helpful.

Certain types of spinal fractures can be treated with kyphoplasty.

We were the first surgical center in southern New Jersey to offer lumbar spinal spacers for treatment of spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal). We are also the first surgical center in South Jersey to offer minimally invasive fusions of the sacroiliac joint for severe buttock pain using only bone graft without the need for metal screws or bolts.

Endoscopic lumbar spine surgery will be coming to ACCESS in 2019. Imagine when your herniated disc is removed without general anesthesia and you can walk out of the surgical center that same day.
